Audi Q3 due in late 2011

The much anticipated Audi Q3 crossover vehicle has been confirmed to go into production late in 2011. The SEAT factory in Spain will produce the vehicles with the first models expected off the production line in July 2011. With plenty of automotive pedigree to draw from the Audi Q3 will be able to choose the best of everything and will be based on the Volkswagen Tiguan with Golf sporty engine options. The target market for the vehicle will be the sporty about towner rather than the weekender off roader. With sales shifting more to the smaller crossover vehicles Audi will be filling a gap in its already large range with the new Q3. This will be the smallest in the Audi SUV category and is expected to compete with the BMW X1 and the Mercedes GLK class.

Spy shots of the pre production model have surfaced on the internet as usual to increase the buzz around any new product release these days. The car will however be based around the Cross Coupe Quattro Concept that Audi took to the 2007 Shanghai Motor Show. The production model is expected to be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September of this year. So this car has been a long time coming.

As for the Australian release date there is no official word so we can only speculate that it will be late 2011 to early 2012.
